Tonight's beer: Lancaster Rumspringa
A fair amount of sweetness: Caramel and toast/bread, with strong dry-honey impressions. Floral-grassy bitterness arises through the middle. That dry, almost-meadish character hangs on and drives the beer to a long finish, with a dim shadow of whiskey (and/or maybe some other spirits).
Pretty thick, more syrupy-sticky than bready-chewy; softly-carbonated. Lingering drying finish turns out to be ... refreshing, with a gentle hint of boozy warmth.
A pleasantly drinkable Maibock, with meadish notes adding some complexity—though it's still appropriately straightforward for the style. Plenty of flavor. Nicely balanced and integrated. Very nice, if you're into bockish lagers; I am.
