Lost Abbey Red Poppy Ale

Tonight's beer: Lost Abbey Red Poppy Ale

Lost Abbey Red Poppy Ale

Bracingly sour, bordering on red wine vinegar. Some hints of cherries, back a bit. Maybe some dark fruits and caramel buried in the background. Dries out nicely on finish, with strong vinous character.

Light-bodied, with decent carbonation and refreshing tart acidity. Slightly puckering, but eventually finishes clean, with some very minor syrupy stickiness.

A very refreshing take on a Flanders Red. Not so huge or intense as, say, Deschutes Dissident, but some intense and complex flavor, to be sure. Kinda vinous, and very drinkable. A little tart to make food-matching easy, but very pleasant on its own.
