Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Pumking
Caramel, brown sugar, maple on top of pumpkins and toasted bread. Kinda subdued spiciness: cloves, allspice, cardamom(?), cinnamon, ginger. Earthy and grassy bitterness in background.
Medium-bodied, lightly-carbonated. Some distinct syrupy stickiness on the back of the palate. Alcohol roughly non-detectable. Slight bready chewiness on finish.
An alarmingly drunkable big pumpkin beer. Nicely balanced and integrated, with tons of pumpkin character. Rich and intense; a big ans subtly boozy pumpkin pie of a beer. Very, very yummy.
