Tonight's beer: Cape Ann Brewery Fisherman's Imperial Pumpkin Stout (2010)
Dark bread and roasty—chocolate and coffee—with some smoke, earth, ash, and grass. Distant carmael and dried/candied dark fruits. Pumpkins and spices, blending in.
Kinda dense, syrupy, viscous, mildly-carbonated. A little chewy. Some gentle, smooth, subtle heat. Nicely drying on finish.
Oh! My! Gawd! So smooth. So complex. So intense. Pumpkin is present but subdued relative to a more recent bottling. This heer has aged astonishingly well. Terrifyingly drinkable, with the gentlest touch of alcohol. Amazing.
