Tonight's beer: Flying Dog Secret Stash 2011
Grapefruity citrus bitterness emerges, blending with grassy-floral-earthy bitterness, making for a pleasant lot of bitterness. Caramel-bready-toasty sweetness definitely in the background, struggling to shove the flavor into something like balance. Some spicy and fruity elements way in the background. Ends up in a pretty dry place.
Mouthfeel is very much on the light-bodied side, and highly (if finely) carbonated. Some resinous stickiness. Very drying and refreshing.
Nicely drinkable beer. Not exactly typical for a saison though American Farmhouse Ale seems to fit. Decently flavorful, especially at 5.5% ABV; intense and complex and decently subtle. Farmhouse ale to celebrate the harvest: Makes sense to me.
