Lancaster Winter Warmer

Tonight's beer: Lancaster Winter Warmer

Lancaster Winter Warmer

Malts front, center, and on top: bread, caramel, and dark-toast, with distant presence of butter/butterscotch; maybe some dark dried/candied fruits. Peaty-earthy-grassy bitterness keeping that almost in check. Some spiritous background: whiskey, mainly, with possibilities of brandy and/or rum.

Mouthfeel is bready—very bready—chewy and syrupy-sticky. Gently-adequate carbonation. Alcohol present byt very subtle. Filling and satisfying.

A very pleasant winter seasonal beer, somewhere between an Old Ale and an English-style Barleywine. Nicely balanced. Substantial booze content, carried with impressive grace and subtlety. Nicely driinkable, and warming in the belly. Yum.
