Tonight's beer: Lost Abbey Deliverance
Vanilla, butter, oak on top; caramel and bread pudding and toast; dark chocolate rising to a substantial presence. Dark dried/candied fruits and spices in the background but definitely there. Strong hints of spirits—whiskey/bourbon/brandy/rum. Maybe some earthy/grassy bitterness way in the background.
Kinda dense and viscous, with some definite syrupy stickiness. Some decent carbonation: There's a powerful prickle that I suspect is at least partly alcohol. Somewhat drying and immensely satisfying.
A very big and very impressive beer, with obviously tons of barrel character. Massively intense and complec, if not subtle; graceful for all that. Alcohol is strongly present, but the beer is still amazingly drinkable. Awesome.
