Tonight's beer: Magic Hat Howl
Chocolate on top of dark bread, with hints of coffee. Grassy-earthy bitterness lurks in the background. Hints of tang in the far distance. Finishes nicely roasty-dry.
Medium-bodied, bready, with decent light carbonation. Pleasantly drying and refreshing. Some slight bready-syrupy stickiness, but pretty clean on the finish.
Quite a nice schwarzbier. Maybe a bit more chocolate, less toffee, than the ones I've had from Germany, but pretty authentic. Good flavor-to-booze ratio. Drinkable, even sessionable, if that's your bag.
