Tonight's beer: Oskar Blues Gubna
Lots and lots of citrus, with strong presence of pine, flowers, grass. Bread, caramel, light toast, with maybe hints of fruit from malt/yeast in addition to hops. Peppery-spicy-sour rye character distinctly accounted for. Plenty of sweetness, even with scads of hops.
Some stickiness on the mouthfeel—syrupy and resinous; otherwise medium-bodied, with decent prickle that seems to be part carbonation, part booze, part rye tartness. Finishes, eventually, pretty clean and nicely drying.
Very nice Big IPA. At 10% ABV, very big. Lots and lots of hops (duh) but surprisingly well-balanced. Massively intense, with complexities around the edges. Nicely integrated. Alcohol is present but subtle, and tbe beer is impressively drinkable. Yummy.
