This evening's beer: Tröegs Pale Ale
Pine and citrus bitterness on top, hints of flowers and grass. Bready-crackery malts—touches of caramel and toast—in the backgroudn, barely adequate to balance. A flash of something mineral/flinty on the quick finish.
On the light side of medium-bodied, with decent carbonation and a stoney flinty-hard backbone. Very drying, especially on the finish, but very refreshing and quenching.
A pleasantly prickly Pale Ale, more American than British or Belgian. Drinkable and refreshing; decently flavorful, especially for such a moderate, almost sessionable beer. Somewhat hard-edged on the finish. Nice.
