Tonight's beer: Allagash Fluxus 2011
Bready/toasty mostly-caramel sweetness at the same level as earthy-grassy bitterness. Herbs and spices (dark and earthy) right behind. Might be some dried/candied fruits around the perimeter. Dries out nicely on the finish, with maybe some mineral crackle.
Mouthfeel is nicely light-bodied, with some decently lively carbonation. Some caramel/juicy/bready roundness, but dries out nicely and quickly. Maybe some gentle alcohol warmth.
A big and flavorful bier de garde. Intense and complex, with subtleties that reward attention paid. It's definitely a big beer that wants to be served with food. Wonderfully drinkable, with not a lot of warning about the 8.1% ABV.
