Anchor Our Special Ale 2011

Tonight's beer: Anchor Our Special Ale 2011

Anchor Our Special Ale 2011

Dark bread and molasses kinda up-front, with chocolate rising, and maybe some caramel/fruity sweetness. Complex spices and bitterness (mostly something piney that's probably juniper), cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, maybe some stuff like allspice or cloves.

Bready medium body, with nice lively carbonation. Some chewiness and slightly-syrupy stickiness. Eventually very drying and pleasantly filling.

Wonderfully drinkable massively-spiced beer. Pretty much defines the Winter Warmer style, at least for and among American craft brewers. Very complex and well-integrated. Definitely a beer to buy every winter. Yummy.
