Tonight's beer: River Horse Belgian Freeze
Dark bread, with caramel and dark dried/candied fruits; touches of leather, peat, earth, grass, chocolate. Some lingering spices, and a touch of bitterness. Distant bubblegum and bananas. Flashes of dark spirits—rum, brandy, whiskey—on the edges of a nicely dry finish.
Very light-bodied and highly carbonated, slightly warming and pleasantly drying. A touch of boozy prickle. Slight syrupy stickiness on the back end. Bordering on refreshing; alcohol is present but scarily subtle.
An alarmingly drinkable beer, given the 8% ABV. Subtle and graceful and balancved, but ample intensity and complexity (at least for me). Sneakily boozy. Another good beer from River Horse, with awesome label art. Wooly Hippo, FTW!
