Tonight's beer: Smuttynose Homunculus
The following contains extrapolation and interpolation: I appear to have a cold moving into my head
Lots of fruit--pale, dried/candied--apples, pears, bananas, white grapes (raisins). Hints of pale bread and caramel. Scads and scads of piney-grassy-citrussy-floral bitterness. Spices very much present in the background, mostly cloves but other possibilities linger.
Light-bodied and lightly-carbonated, with lots of alcohol prickle making up for the relative lack of fizz. Very drying, especially on the syrupy-resinous-sticky finish.
A pretty nice Belgian-style IPA. A tad boozy-hot, but pleasant and drinkable. Lots of flavor--intense and complex. I would love to try this beer again, once I can breathe properly once more.
