Tonight's beer: 21st Amendment Fireside Chat
Dark bread and dark fruits--cherries, plums, etc--up front. Dark sweetness like molasses or maple syrup. Some caramel/toast, bordering on something roasty--more chocolate than coffee. Some gentle spices--ginger, cloves, allspice, cinnamon. Some soft earthy-grassy bitterness, way in the background.
Bready and medium-bodied, with syrupy stickiness lingering well after the swallow. Decent carbonation, and a little boozy prickle. A little drying, and surprisingly refreshing for a 7.9% ABV beer.
A very nice Winter Warmer. More in the way of fruit in the flavor than I'd call typical for the style, but very drinkable. Flavorful--intense and complex. A pretty substantial alcohol payload is carried with surprising grace. Hooray for excellent beer from a can. I'll have to get more of this when it comes around again.
