Tonight's beer: Ayinger Weizen-Bock
Bananas and cloves, with other spices lurking, on top of pale bread with touches of caramel/treacle. Some pepper and other tartness lingering on perimeter, with maybe hints of bubblegum. Light spirits off in the far distance.
Kinda thick mouthfeel, very smooth, with copious carbonation. Some bready/syrupy stickiness. The vaguest touch of boozy warmth. Gently drying and astonishingly refreshing.
An alarmingly drinkable beer, carrying the 7.1% ABV with impressive grace and subtlety--there is a lot of intense and complex flavor here, but not much hint of alcohol. Beautifully integrated. Weizenbocks are usually a great deal of fun, and this is no exception.
