Tonight's beer: Flying Dog Raging Bitch
All kinds of fruits to open--pale citrus, melons, apples/pears, maybe oddities like pineapples and/or bananas (with other tropical fruits possible, as well)--with pine, flowers, and grass tagging along right behind. There's a dim whiff of musk in the nose that seems to resolve into being part of a larger overall spiciness, maybe some galangal thrown in with ginger and cloves. All that sits on a gently-toasted light-bread/toast background, with maybe some caramel/honey/treacle hanging around the fringes.
The beer is very light-bodied, with lots of carbonation and some gentle alcoholic prickle. Very drying and astonishingly refreshing. Some resinous stickiness on a finish that doesn't seem as though it will end.
One of the most drinkable big and hoppy beers I've had. There isn't a lot of Belgian character to the beer, except for the light body and some fruity notes. Oh--and the evil subtle alcohol that lurks in the heart of the beer. Tons of flavor--intense, complex, integrated. Definitely a massively drinkable beer--I practically slurped mine. Egad.
