Great Divide Yeti

Tonight's beer: Great Divide Yeti

Great Divide Yeti

A massively roasty beer--coffee emerges almost immediately on the palate and steps forward over chocolate; caramel and dark bread come right behind, with touches of sweetness. Burnt fruit hangs aroudn in the middle. Earth, grass, peat, smoke, ash all crowd into the background. Dries out thoroughly on the the finish.

Roasty-drying mouthfeel, thick and almost viscous, with decent carbonation and maybe a touch of boozy prickle. Bready chewiness, a touch of syrupy stickiness. Long and lingering finish.

A very excellent Russian Imperial Stout; a massively flavorful slab of a beer. Immense and complex and nicely-integrated. A good example of why the style is considered to be such a palate-wrecker. A hugely flavorful winner from Great Divide.
