Lagunitas Imperial Red

Tonight's beer: Lagunitas Imperial Red

Lagunitas Imperial Red

Pine, grapefruit, flowers, and grass very much on top; caramel and fruity and breaty sweetness backing that up. Possibilities of something musky in flashes, in the background, with maybe a touch of spice in there somewhere. Dries out nicely on the finish.

Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium-bodied, with decent carbonation (and maybe a touch of boozy prickle). Some stickiness--resinous and syrupy--but the beer finishes pretty quickly. Gently trying and immensely refreshing.

This is a very drinkable big red ale. Complex, balanced, and integrated. Of course, I like the style a lot, so this is clearly right in my wheelhouse, so to speak. I see this beer, I buy this beer--it's that simple. It's yummy.
