Tonight's beer: Ommegang Seduction
A very nice beer; the chocolate added, and the kriek lambic blended in, bring some impressive complexities and subtleties. Darkly sweet up-front--dark bread, coast, caramel, dark chocolate. Dark fruits--mainly cherries, but plums and raisins (and others) hanging around, too. Some dark earthiness, hints of smoke and spices. A touch of tart/sour way off in the distance.
For a biggish dark beer, this is very light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. A little syrupy stickiness on the back end. The vaguest touch of tartness. Dries out nicely on the finish. Immensely refreshing.
Scarily drinkable--one might even say, seductively so. Nice intensity and complexity, given the relatively mild 6.8% ABV. Definitely a yummy beer.
