Tonight's beer: Otter Creek Quercus Vitis Humulus
Light fruitiness--apples, pears, golden raisins, more--on top of pale bread, with a touch of caramel right behind. Some earthy-grassy-floral bitterness rising up through the middle. Dim possibilities of spice--cloves, allspice, et al. Some distant tart, with a touch of oak.
The beer is surprisingly light-bodied for such a big beer (12% ABV), with just a touch of boozy prickle. Some distinct carbonation. Some drying, and bordering on refreshing.
A very nice--drinkable, complex, intense--big beer from a brewer I don't know all that well. They did a lot of stuff to this beer--grape juice added in, aged in oak--and the results seem to have been worth the effort. Yummy.
