Tonight's beer: Tröegs Mad Elf
Dark fruits, fronted by cherries, with dark/toasty bread right behind. Dry honey/meat character around edges, with some dark spiciness. Pepper, grass, and flowers; touches of bananas and dark spirits (mainly brandy and rum).
The beer is pretty light-bodied, with a little syrupy stickiness and moderate carbonation. Very drying and distressingly refreshing. Some vague warmth, but not tons of alcohol presence.
One of my favorite winter seasonals. Lots of cherries, and honey-dry. Complex and intense and frighteningly drinkable, with roughly no warning of the 10.5% ABV. Last of these for the season, but there's always next year; I'll buy another sixer then.
