A Saturday of Learning!

So I've mentioned that my wife, Sara, has been feeling some confusion about the differences and boundaries (and yes, I know the borders are porous) between English barleywines, American barleywines, and double IPAs. Today, we're drinking these three beers so that she can have the three styles pretty close together.

In case someone is having problems reading the bottles in the photograph, they are Heavy Seas Below Decks (2011); Great Divide Old Ruffian (bottled in December of 2011, but not otherwise vintage dated), and Southern Tier Gemini (bottled 01.27.2012); all young enough that the only aging effect should be a slight blunting of the hop character in the Gemini and maybe the Old Ruffian.
