Anchor Our Special Ale 2011

Tonight's beer: Anchor Our Special Ale 2011

Anchor Our Special Ale 2011

Dark bread, chocolate, caramel, toast, dim hints of coffee; lots of dark cookie dough character. Pine, earth, grass; lots of spices--juniper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, etc. It does pretty much dry out on the finish.

Moderately-dense body, with decent carbonation and slight bready stickiness/chewiness. Gently drying--especially on the lingering finish--and pretty refreshing.

Xmas in March? Why not? One of my favorite Xmas beers. Spices completely and skillfully integrated with the other beer elements. Intense and balanced, with a pretty impressive flavor-to-booze ratio. Very drinkable. Also, yummy.
