Tonight's beer: Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale
Dark bread/toast/molasses sweetness, maybe some maple; backed by piney-citrussy-floral-grassy bitterness. Some vague impressions of dark spices (think allspice or cloves), earth, peat, smoke. A possibility of dried/candied dark fruit (cherries or plums) and milk chocolate. Dries out thoroughly on the finish.
Surprisingly light-bodied, with lots of carbonation and a touch of bready-syrupy stickiness. Gently drying and very refreshing. The vaguest tough of boozy prickle--subtle for 7.2% ABV.
A very nice, if almost completely idiosyncratic, brown ale. Massively drinkable, and intensely, complexly flavorful. Maybe not exactly balanced, but neatly integrated. Kinda crazy; but a nice introduction to what Dogfish Head is about. Yummy, and one of my go-to beers.
