Tonight's beer: Rogue Mogul Madness Ale
Dark bread, nuts, toffee, toast, caramel; grass, pine, flowers, a touch of citrus. Something almost-tannic, almost-mineral flashes past on the finish. Maybe a distant touch of spice.
Medium-bodied, slightly sticky with some decent prickle that's probably mostly carbonation--at 6.6% ABV the beer's not strong enough to feel boozy. Finish is pretty quick, and surprisingly clean for the stickiness at the start.
A nicely drinkable hoppy brown beer, suitable for a chilly late-March evening. Nicely balanced and integrated; intense and complex. Not bad for a close-out bought on a whim.
