Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2012

Tonight's beer: Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2012

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2012

Lots and lots of bitterness--pine, citrus, grass, flowers--on top of come very sturdy bready/toasty/caramelly malts. Maybe some dried/candied fruit adding to the sweet. Some spicy presence way in the background that's probably alcohol. Dries out on finish.

Slightly thickish mouthfeel, with some substantial chewiness, and a lot of prickle (probably some booze, some carbonation) and more than a touch of heat. Long, resinous-sticky, lingering finish. Very scrubbing, tending toward the scrubbing.

Yummy. Massively intense, but quite well balanced and integrated. Pretty much the (or at least an) archetype for American barleywines; deservedly legendary. Powerful stuff, but very sippable.
