Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Eurotrash Pilz
Starts out with a flash of sulfur in the nose, then grassy-floral (maybe perfumey) bitterness on top of pale bread/crackers; vague hints of toast and caramel.
Light-bodied, without tons of carbonation (but still plenty prickly). Very drying and refreshing. Extraordinarily clean and cleansing. Quenching, even.
A pretty good take on the Czech Pilsner style, by a brewer that has earned a lot of my trust. Simple almost to the point of minimalism. Clean, balanced, integrated. Not astonishingly complex, but it's not trying to be; decently intense. Quite nice, even if it's a brewer and a style that (IMO) doesn't get enough love from the beer cognoscenti. I don't care--I like it fine.
