Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Un*Earthly
Citrus on top of pine, backed by flowers, grass, and perfume; hints of spice. Pale non-citrus fruits--dried and candied--lurking behind pale bread with hints of caramel/toast. Something almost minerally flashes past on the finish.
Body is on the light side of medium, with a good bit of prickle that's probably part-carbonation/part-booze. Some resinous stickiness, a bit of scrubbing action; very drying on finish. Startlingly refreshing.
A scarily drinkable, very well-balanced Double IPA. Tons of intensity here--it's a hoppy powerhouse of a beer--but very integrated. Practically zero warning of the 9.6% ABV--one could get into a lot of trouble with this beer. Very yummy.
