Tonight's beer: Sprecher Mai Bock
Pale gently-toasted bread, with touches of caramel. More than adequately balanced by grassy-floral bitterness with maybe a touch of pine. Some dim impressions of fruit, nuts, and toffee arise on the finish.
The beer feels kinda thick and chewy, but with pretty decent carbonation. A hint of tingle and burn that I'm inclined to parse as alcohol. A little stickiness, but finishes pretty quick, clean, and refreshing.
A nice introduction to a brewer I haven't had before. A creditable and authentic and very drinkable take on a maibock. Relatively straightforward but not simple or simplistic. Not intense by comparison to a DIPA, but there is a lot of flavor here, well balanced and integrated.
