Tonight's beer: Stillwater Artisanal Folklore
Chocolate, coffee, dark/toasted bread, touches of caramel and dried/candied dark fruits (maybe edging toward burnt). peat, smoke, leather, pepper a step or three back, with dim possibilities of other (predominantly dark) spices in the interstices. Finishes smoothly dry.
Light-bodied and graceful mouthfeel, highly-carbonated, drying and distinctly refreshing. Some gentle boozy prickle, maybe. Smooth, with a touch of breath stickiness/chewiness. A trace of warmth in the throat and belly.
A very drinkable beer--has a lot in common with Existent, makes me think the peppery character (and maybe some of the roastiness) is mostly yeast character. Very tasty--lots of complexity--and nicely integrated. Another big-time winner from Stillwater Artisanal, my local Gypsy brewer extraordinaire. Yummy as hell.
