Tonight's beer: 21st Amendment/Ninkasi Allies Win the War!
Caramel, bread/toast; grass, flowers, distant hints of pine and citrus. Dried/candied fruits, nuts, toffee lurking mostly in the background, with faint touches of dark spirits like whiskey, brandy, rum; and a dim possibility of baking spices.
Kinda bready and chewy, but not all that thick or heavy--almost pillowy. Ample, lively carbonation. The vaguest hint of alcohol presence--the 8.5% ABV is scarily well-hidden. Some mild syrupy stickiness on the finish. Gently drying, and more filling/satisfying than refreshing.
A very nice beer, indeed. Balanced, comples, and integrated; surprisingly drinkable. Not a barleywine, not any kind of Belgian style; something in the interstices, probably. A bigtime winner from 21st Amendment and +Ninkasi Brewing . Yummy.
