Tonight's beer: Epic Big Bad Baptist
Dark chocolate--pure, dark chocolate, like what you'd use in a molé--with a touch of coffee cavorting alongside. Caramel and burnt fruits and dark bread provide something like counterpoint. Some oak/whiskey character, centered around vanilla and butter. Impressions of earth, grass, spice, and smoke flash across more toward the finish.
The beer is heavy and dense and very smooth, with lots of roasty dryness. Viscous and syrupy-sticky, with kinda light carbonation. Practically zero alcohol presence. Kinda long finish; very filling and satisfying.
This is a scarily drinkable beer. Absolutely no hint this beer is packing 11.4% ABV. None, whatsoever. Tons of flavor, here--intense, complex, balanced, integrated--with surprising subtlety and grace. An awesome beer, perfect by itself as dessert. Wow, and very yummy.
