Lost Abbey 10 Commandments

Tonight's beer: Lost Abbey 10 Commandments

Lost Abbey 10 Commandments

Caramel and chocolate and dark dried/candied fruits on top; toffee, dark bread, rum, maple syrup, and brandy right behind; earth, spice, vanilla, herbs, and grass filling in what gaps remain. Even with all those sweet elements, not cloying and dries out by the finish. A wall of flavors, or a tapestry, or a bas-relief.

Very light-bodied on the palate, and pleasantly drying. Ample, supple carbonation. For all the spirits in the taste, not much in the feel--borderline deceptive, there. Some soft and subtle stickiness, but the finish is pretty quick and clean.

This beer is really nothing short of stunning. Intense and complex and subtle and balance and integrated, it carries its 10% ABV with grace and tranquility. Frighteningly drinkable--practically to the point of slurpable. I sincerely hope this isn't the last beer we obtain from Lost Abbey; that would be a small, personal tragedy. Yum and yum and yum. Also, wow.
