Tonight's beer: Nørrebro Bryghus Skärgaards Porter
Roasty on top, mainly chocolate (though there may be some distant coffee), with dark bread/toast right behind. Caramel, and fruity sweetness, with clear traces of honey. Earthy-grassy bitterness very much in the background, but present. Mineral, slightly tart tang emerges on quick, prickly finish; dries out quickly.
A little dense and sticky on the palate, with decent carbonation and some bready chewiness. Maybe the vaguest touch of alcohol warmth. Round on the palate, filling and satisfying, tending toward refreshing.
Very drinkable porter, possibly tending toward a more traditional English interpretation. Nicely complex and flavorful, but not so intense as to be overwhelming. At 6% ABV, in a 20+ oz. bottle, it's a good night's beer. Very yummy beer from Denmark.
