Tonight's beer: Oskar Blues Deviant Dale's
Citrus on top—mostly grapefruit and orange—with pine, pineapples (and other tropical fruits), flowers, grass, melons, and musk all gathering around right behind. Bread/toast/caramel solidly present, if mostly in the background. A trace of booze—something like whiskey—way in the distance.
Medium-thick and bready-chewy mouthfeel, with some resinous-syrupy stickiness; the finish is long and drying. For its thickness and heft (and for the style) it's pretty close to refreshing. The vaguest trace of boozy heat on finish, almost an aftertaste.
A very impressive Double IPA; nicely-balanced; complex and intense. Kinda scarily drinkable, without a lot of alcohol presence. As it turns out, this is a great beer to sip my way through while watching a baseball game.
