Tonight's beer: Tröegs Nugget Nectar
Tons of citrus up front—mostly grapefruit with a bit of orange—very juicy, with pine right behind; flowers and grass emergent. Toast and bread and caramel filling in the background. Juicy through the middle, but dries out by the end, mostly.
Bready mouthfeel, slightly thicker than medium, with decent carbonation; pretty smooth. Very drying and very refreshing; cleansing and almost scrubbing. Not even a hint of the 7.5% ABV. A touch of resinous stickiness on the finish.
A marvelously well-balanced beer. The focus is clearly on hoppy bitterness, but there's plenty of malty sweetness to hold things together. Intense, complex, and integrated. One of my favorite annual limited release beers, and one of my favorite hops-focused beers; possibly my favorite in at least one of those categories. Yummy.
