Beer and food!

A beer dinner!

That's sun-dried Alfredo over chicken (from a recipe in the Washington Post) and some peas that have been seasoned and otherwise tricked out. Served with Unibroue Dom de Dieu.

The sauce was awfully thick and got thinned down a lot, maybe too much. That said, though, the beer played nicely with everything on the table; it was clean enough to refresh the palate and get out of the way. What bitterness there is in the beer is grassy-floral-herbal, so it plays nicely with things with pesto (like this), and it's light-bodied enough that it doesn't weigh down what really is a pretty light-weight dinner, even with and Alfredo sauce made with heavy cream.

The little bit of fruity-bready sweetness in the beer played with the sweetness form the cream and the sun-dried tomatoes.

Overall a pretty decent match; part of me is thinking something drier, like a bretty saison, or maybe something more vinous like some Flanders Red or Brown. It's a pretty laid-back dish, and there a lot of beers I can see having with it.

Overall, very yummy.
