Caldera IPA

Tonight's beer: Caldera IPA

Caldera IPA

Tons of citrus to start—orange, grapefruit, lemon—backed by pine and flowers and maybe a little grass. Caramel, toast, pale bread, and maybe alittle honey, all providing background and balancing sweetness. Dim hints emerging toward finish of spice, musk, and melons.

Mouthfeel is definitely in the middle of medium-bodied, with soft, gentle, and fine carbonation; a little chewy; lots of resionous-syrupy stickiness. Finish is long and drying.

An impressive IPA, with about as much flavor as I've seen recently in a 6.1% ABV beer. A beautiful beer in the glass, and very flavorful—intense, complex, and balanced. Astonishingly drinkable. Yum.
