Tonight's beer: Flying Dog Underdog Atlantic Lager
Grassy-floral bitterness flashes across to begin, with hints of lemon. Bready-crackery malts emerge from the background, with some very distant caramel; moments later the bitterness reasserts itself, into and through a long and lingering finish.
Light-bodied, with gentle but lively carbonation. Clean, drying, refreshing, and cleansing.
A simple, clean, drinkable lager, with lots of assertive hops character; very drinkable. At 4.7% ABV, something awfully close to a session beer. I wouldn't object to Flying Dog calling this a Pilsner, but they don't. Nice beer.
