Tonight's beer: Great Divide 18th Anniversary

Great Divide 18th Anniversary

Pine and grass and spice in a mingled tapestry of bitterness, with threads of citrus and flowers, on a background of pale bready malts—a little crackle of toast in there—with a dim trace of woody character, mostly in the form of vanilla, way in the distance.

Kinda bready mouthfeel, a little chewy, with pretty decent carbonation. Pretty dry and clean with a little stickiness on the finish—almost resinous. Scarily refreshing, with almost no trace of the 10% ABV: just a trace of warmth in the belly.

A very nice and very drinkable DIPA, with a trace of extra malt character from the wood-aging.Well-balanced and graceful for its strength; not a pine- and grapefruit-laden hops-bomb. Definitely a great beer to celebrate an anniversary with.
