Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

Tonight's beer: Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

Big heaping piles of bitterness—piny, citrussy, grassy, floral, spicy, a little catty—backed by pale bread with touches of toast and caramel and fruit juice. Some light alcohol presence, more like vodka than anything else. Very dry, with just a little sweet in the middle.

Medium-light body, with some gentle carbonation. A fair amount of resinous stickiness on the back end, along with a touch of alcohol heat. Drying and scrubbing to the point of scouring.

A crazy hoppy hops-focused beer, one of the most over-the-top Double IPAs I've had. Unbalanced—intentionally so—and proud of it. Complexly and intentionally bitter. Big flavors, pretty well integrated; nicely sippable.
