Tonight's beer: Traquair House Ale
Great gobs of toast and caramel, with distant possibilities of roast (more chocolate than coffee); dark dried/candied fruits in background adding sweetness. Dim impressions of peat, earth, grass, spices emerge toward finish; dries out some, takes its time doing it.
Mouthfeel is kinda thick, kinda chewy, with decent carbonation. Some substantial syrupy stickiness, especially on the very long gently-drying finish. For 7.2% ABV, practically no trace of alcohol.
An awesome Scotch Ale that practically defines the style, IMO. One of my favorite beers, period. Intense and complex and beautifully balanced. Yummy.
