Anchor Summer Beer

This afternoon's beer: Anchor Summer Beer

Anchor Summer Beer

Grassy-floral bitterness on top, supported by pale bread with touches of toast and caramel. Dim hints of peppery wheaty character in the background, emerging especially on the finish. A little vague pale-fruitiness as the beer warms a little. Pretty dry from start to finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp and very clean. Nicely drying and immensely refreshing. Very light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Finish is short and very quick.

A demonstration of what American Pale Wheat Beers can be—not a shock, considering this is one of the prototypes (possibly the archetype). Other than the vague pale fruit, almost spot on what mainstream fizzy yellow "beer" wants to be, as far as refreshment and suchlike. Very drinkable—slurpable, even—and astonishingly refreshing. Very, very nice.
