Bell's Cherry Stout

Tonight's beer: Bell's Cherry Stout

Bell's Cherry Stout

Cherries up front, a combination of dark, sweet, and tart (with other dark-fruity impressions including plums and grapes); chocolate (more like good milk chocolate than anything else), dark bread, and a trace of coffee right behind. Maybe a touch of caramel. Dim hints of earthy-grassy bitterness.

Round and juicy, bready-chewy, syrupy-sticky. A bit heavy and dense, with decent carbonation. Roasty-dryness never quite emerges, instead struggling just below the surface. For a stout, surprisingly refreshing.

A nice beer from +Bell's Brewery, Inc.. Not the only fruity stout I've gotten my hands on recently that is basically a desert beer. Complex and integrated, but kinda dominated by the cherries; that's not something I'd complain about, but I really like cherries. I found it very drinkable, but opinions on that are likely to vary with one's feelings about cherries. Yummy.
