Tonight's beer: DC Brau The Public
Bitterness up front—citrus and pine, then flowers and grass—backed by lightly-toasted pale bread, touched with caramel. Non-citrus fruits emerge toward the middle, then things dry out a lot. Mineral, almost flinty-sharp, character appears on the short, quick finish.
Mouthfeel is maybe a touch on the light side of medium-bodied, with good lively carbonation. Very dry and drying, impressively refreshing. A little prickly on the finish, very clean and cleansing.
A nice introduction to a local brewer I may have to make more-special-than-special trips to acquire—it's brewed in DC, but I don't think it's distributed in MD. Stoopid laws. Very drinkable; balanced and integrated, with a bit of snap to it.
