Fordham Doppelbock

Tonight's beer: Fordham Doppelbock

Fordham Doppelbock

Chocolate, dark bread, toffee; toasted nuts and caramel right behind. Earthy-grassy emerges after a brief struggle, hanging around to dry the beer out a little. Dark fruits and impressions of coffee in the distance. Maybe a touch of brandy.

Round and full on the palate, bready-chewy and a little dense, well-carbonated. A trace of boozy warmth, gently drying. Some soft stickiness, lingering finish.

A nicely drinkable doppelbock, decently intense and balanced. Appropriately brawny, but subtle and graceful in its strength. Filling and satisfying, very yummy. Probably the first beer from Fordham I've taken notes on; I'll have to try others.
