Tonight's beer: Founders Breakfast Stout
Coffee and dark chocolate on top, with dark bread/toast and caramel lingering. Earthy-grassy bitterness floats past, with peat, smoke, earth, and burnt fruits mingling in the background, with a dim possibility of spice. Dries out slowly.
Roasty-dry, slightly slippery, with decent carbonation. The only hint of the 8.3% ABV is a slight tingle and some very gentle warmth. A bit of bready-chewiness and syrupy-stickiness on the finish.
This beer's availability is too sporadic for it to be a go-to beer, but it's a beer with a soft spot in my heart. Intense, complex, integrated, and it's done well with extra time in the bottle. Thanks to +Michele C for this!
