Mikkeller/Three Floyds Boogoop

Tonight's beer:

Mikkeller/Three Floyds Boogoop

Piny-citrussy-grassy-floral bitterness on top, backed by caramel-toasty-bready sweetness; hints of bananas and spice. Pretty clear alcohol components, mostly in the lines of whiskey or rum. Earthy-mapley impressions lurking just below the surface, maybe traces of peat/smoke. Never really dries out all that much, but bitter throughout.

Mouthfeel is kinda thick, but pillowy-soft, with some resinous stickiness and a little bready chewiness. Pretty decent carbonation. Distinct alcohol presence, a bit of heat. Long and drying finish.

A good-to-great sipping beer, with no mistaking the ample alcohol presence. Intense flavor, lots of complexity. Probably the hoppiest wheatwine (or wheatwine-esque beer) I've had. I think this is a beer that would have done well with more age on it (not that this was bad, just that it clearly has the stuffing to age well). Decently-integrated.
