Tonight's second beer: DuClaw Double Naked Fish
Dark bread, chocolate, raspberries on top; coffee, caramel, earth, crass, other burnt unidentifiable fruits in the background. Distant boozy impressions, along the lines of whiskey or brandy.
Mouthfeel is thick, viscous, almost syrupy, dense; gently-carbonated. A little almost-seedy grittiness in the middle. Maybe some vague boozy warmth. Long finish is finally roasty-dry.
Dessert in a glass. Immensely drinkable, if one can get past the raspberries and chocolate thrown into the beer. Filling and satisfying. Lots of flavor, intense and complex and integrated, though it's probably too thoroughly dominated by the raspberries and chocolate to be called "balanced." It's hard to screw up raspberries-and-chocolate, but this is still a good introduction to DuClaw (first beer I've had from them). Yummy.
